These MoUs with Airbus were announced during the Paris Air Show 2017 at Le Bourge, where Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development and his accompanying delegation have visited.
Iran Airtour Airlines has committed to purchase 45 A320neo aircrafts from Airbus, as announced in a press release from the European plane-maker.
Zagros Airlines plans to purchase twenty A320neo and eight A330neo commercial aircrafts.
In addition to these 73 Airbuses, the other Iranian airline, Qeshm Air, has also announced that they are going to purchase 10 commercial jetliners (of the Max737 series) from the American plane-maker, Boeing, bringing the number of aircrafts purchased from this manufacturer to a total of 150.
These purchases are going to be financed by foreign companies, a feat that has been made possible after the nuclear deal and lifting of sanctions against Iran. Due to sanctions that included aircraft and parts’ purchase, Iranian airlines’ fleet has been aging and this has caused many safety issues for passengers.
