The CEO of Iran's Construction and Development of Transport Infrastructures Company, Kheyrollah Khademi stated that: "with four new rail connections of the provincial capital to the national rail network during the last two years, one of the main goals of the Government for expanding rail network has been achieved. Moreover, East Azerbaijan Province has been connected through a shortcut route to the national rail network".
Miyaneh-Bostanabad Railroad has been constructed with the purpose of quick and easy access to Tehran. In this sense, it reduces about existing 114 km railway lasting for about 5.5 hours.
The President emphasized on the important role of this railroad in international transit and added that among five important corridors which connects East Asia to Europe, three important corridors pass through Iran and the Miyaneh-Tabriz railroad is one of key part of this corridors that extends from the northeast and southeast borders to west of Asia and Europe.
"By completing this rail route and connection to Turkey and Europe, in fact the rail mode part of the Silk Road will be completed", Khademi added.
Miyaneh-Bostanabad railway with the capacity of 7 million tons freight and 2 million passengers annually has created 200 jobs.
Miyaneh-Bostanabad railroad is 132 km long and is part of Miyaneh-Tabriz Railroad that starts from Miyaneh Station and passes through Turkmenchay and Tekmeh Dash Cities within a mountainous route. It has been constructed with 5000 b. IRR funding.
