Iran, Qatar Joint Meeting to Expand Maritime Ties
MRUD News—Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and The Managing Director of Ports and Maritime Organization, Mohammad Rastad, has met with Qatar Minister of Transport and Communications in Doha in a bilateral meeting attended by delegations of the two countries.
The meeting was mainly held to facilitate maritime commerce through expanding relations and technical port and maritime cooperation between the two countries. Also removing current barriers and problems to increase exports and transit of goods from southern ports of Iran to Qatar Ports, expanding partnership and investments in private sectors of the two countries for establishing and development of logistics and maritime transport were discussed between parties.
The two sides welcomed current friendly relations and strengthening of ties in the future.
In this positive meeting aiming to develop bilateral relations, Qatar Minister of Transport and Communications emphasized on removing barriers to bilateral trade and asked different departments of his Ministry to follow up issues and requests of Iranian Shipping Lines and merchants.
The Iranian delegation visited Al Ruwais Port and negotiated with its managers on joint issues. They also come to see the operational capacity of this port, the loading and unloading operation of Iranian vessels, infrastructures and future development plans of the port as well as the border markets to offer and sell Iranian products.
