 Iran, Kazakhstan Ministers Discussed Transport Agreements

MRUD NEWS—Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development talked to his Kazakhstani counterpart, Beibut Atamkulov, over phone and emphasized on development of the two countries' cooperation in transport and transit in rail, road, air, and maritime sectors.

In the talk with Minister of Industry and Infrastructure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the two sides emphasized on strategic cooperation in commercial, transport, and transit sectors during Coronavirus pandemic.

Moreover, as with curbing corona-virus and resuming cooperation in the air sector, the two sides pointed to resuming direct flights by certain companies.

Mohammad Eslami expressed Iran's readiness to hold trilateral meeting between Iran, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan and also quadripartite summit including Turkmenistan at deputy minister level to resolve issues in road and rail sector.

Beibut Atamkulov also expressed readiness over sending more wagons to Iran and emphasized the necessity of more cooperation for optimal operation of Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan rail route.  

Moreover, the necessity of launching and improving multimodal transit route in the Caspian North-South Route and using port capacities of the Caspian Sea was discussed.

In addition, the two sides discussed readiness to examine cooperation in management of Kazakhistan's Kuryk Port in the Caspian Sea by Iran, to hold the joint port and maritime summit to resolve the issues through video-conference, to tend Kazakhstan's proposal for cooperation in technical and engineering sector, to provide facilities in the southern ports to create warehouse and silo, and to follow up examination of strategies to resume banking and monetary relations with Kazakhstan.
