Iran, Spain Sign MoU in Railway Sector

MRUD News—A MoU is signed between Iran Railway Company and Spain state-owned company of Adif (the Administrator of Railway Infrastructures) during the Rail Transport Exhibition held in Tehran.
Maziar Yazdani, the Deputy in Technical and Infrastructures of Iran Railway Co. stated that "Iran Railway needs a global experience in passenger and freight traffic control to target the Rail traffic control; and Spain is a good case due to its heavy railway traffic as it has common borders with European Countries. Thus, we are determined to take advantage of Spain experience and to simulate its control systems in Iran.
In terms of automated traffic management and mechanical signaling system Spain is highly technological and Iran is to benefit from its experience to have regular rail traffic, he added.
Pointing to the MoU, Yazdani explained that data gathering is getting started and the executive operation and the first proposal will be concluded soon.
One aim of Iran in this agreement is knowledge transfer as the country has great railway talents and alumni hence the process of knowledge transfer will be accelerated for future developments in this sector.
Noteworthy, according to this MoU, cooperation and exchange of information is reached in: high-speed railway, modernization of railway signaling system, modernization of rail traffic management, development of multi-modal transport, freight and logistics terminals, development of passenger stations, technology of construction, modernization and maintenance of infrastructures, bridges, and tunnels.
