France to Help Facilitate Services to Iran’s Transport Sector

MRUD News – Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development emphasized Iran’s access to aircraft maintenance services in a meeting with Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

In this meeting, held after the swearing-in ceremony for President Rouhani’s second term in office, Akhoundi expressed hopes for greater degrees of cooperation between Iran and France, and on a higher level, the EU.

Akhoundi also pointed to efforts in the transport sector, including an increase in rail transport’s share by up to 30% as well as purchases made from Airbus and ATR, further adding that maintenance and support services should be more easily provided to Iran.

Lemoyne expressed France's interest in furthering cooperation with Iran, especially in mutual economic relations; a manifestation of which is the ongoing meetings in Iran-France Economic Committee. In addition to this, France is ready to participate in infrastructure projects in Iran’s transport sector.

Lemoyne announced that certain measures are being taken to facilitate financing for transport projects and purchases and a French delegation will travel to Iran this autumn to address this issue by negotiating with credit institutes in Iran.
