Active Presence of Iran in the Silk Road Corridor

MRUD News—Head of Iran's Railway Company and Deputy Minister of Transport, Saeed Rasouli, delineated Iran railway success in transport diplomacy and informed of a new route within the Silk Road Corridor to transit freight from China to Europe through Iran as per the agreement signed in Ankara in the last three weeks.

At the sideline of " NextStations" International Conference held in Tehran, Rasouli called the event as a successful initiative on the part of Iran Railway in transport diplomacy.

The railway across the world is forwarding the aims and plans alongside each other and Iran Railway is similarly seeking development in its international relation and cooperation.

Head of Iran Railway denied Iran's removal from the transit corridor of the Silk Road and explained that "during the visit to Ankara, an agreement was signed to transit freight along the Silk Road Corridor through China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Turkey that we will witness operation of this international corridor before long".

Rasouli pointed to the agreement of CIS Transport Council with Iran membership during Belarus Summit and said Iran Railway is seeking to develop international cooperation.

The International Union of Railways (UIC) can play role in attracting technical and financial aids from international institutions for Iran. In this regard, Rasouli added that "Iran Railway is in good interactions with the "Railways Union" and this union supports its members technically and scientifically. However, financing follows international rules".
