Salam Terminal-Gallery at IKIA Inaugurated

MRUD NEWS—Salam terminal-gallery as the main core of the Imam Khomeini Airport City's free zone is formally inaugurated on 18 June 2019 with the presence of Iran President and Minister of Roads and Urban Development and other related officials.

 Salam terminal is the first smart airport terminal in Iran designed for transferring 50 million passengers.

According to the schedules, the flights will be launched in this terminal from 22 June 2019.

The internal design of this terminal has taken advantage of the artworks of national artists to reflect the rich Iranian cultural heritage.  

The new terminal is designed, implemented, and constructed mainly by Iranian engineers and according to Iranian cultural architecture and latest smart technologies including jet bridges.

Salam Terminal is designed in 3 floors with 52 open service counters, 9 airport apron, 6 telescopic Passenger Boarding Bridges, 9 boarding gates. Two counters are specifically dedicated to serve passengers with disabilities.

With operationalization of Salam Terminal, the number of service counters will reach to 23 gates that is one of the requirements for changing the airport from Level 1 to Level 2 in terms of airport services.

Also, Salam terminal is equipped to serve the wide-body commercial aircrafts i.e. Airbus A380.

According to Ali Rostami the CEO of Imam Khomeini Airport City: "Employing local workforce, technology and material helped us save at least $3 million in the construction process," says Ali Rostami, the CEO of IKAC".

Imam Khomeini International Airport is expected to handle domestic flights between 12 am and 5 am when Mehrabad Airport is barred from operating flights.
