7th Meeting on Coordinating Council of NSTC

MRUD News—7th meeting on coordination council of north-south transport corridor (NSTC) with presence of Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mohammad Eslami, and his deputy of transport, Shahram Adamnejad, and delegations from other partner countries is being held at Parsian Hotel.

In this meeting, the 8th meeting for technical council in this corridor will be held.

Eslami welcomed high-ranking guests, deputies, ambassadors, and representatives of delegations and mentioned that "we all need to cooperate to remove barriers to the operation of transit along this route".

Eslami pointed to his plan to attend inauguration of Qazvin-Rasht Railway on Wednesday 6 March and emphasized on close examinations of issues at hand and making good decisions that would ease the future.

In this gathering, representatives from Iran, Russia, India, Oman, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Belarus, Syria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are attending.

The meeting is being held on 4 and 5 March 2019.

In the 8th technical meeting of NSTC, establishment of a joint company for multimodal transport  between the member countries, strategies for improving transport and custom cooperation between the member countries of the Corridor, and standardization of rail tariffs will be discussed.

North-South Transport Corridor is a route that transport freight by passing through Chabahar Port and Iran-Azerbaijan Border in Astara and will link southeast Asia to Caucasus and north Europe.

By now, 6 meetings for coordinating council of NSTC have been held. The last meeting was held in New Delhi in 2015.
