Iran, Azerbaijan Discussed to Expand Transport Ties
MRUD NEWS—Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mohammad Eslami, met with Ramin Guluzade, Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 14 September through video conference to discuss Transport ties, and expansion of infrastructures and regional rail links.
As per the supports of Iran and Azerbaijan's Presidents, the two sides expressed hope over increased mutual cooperation to complete joint projects.
Iran and Azerbaijan discussed over construction of joint automobile bridge over Astarachay River in Astara, the necessity of completion and full operation of Astara-Astara rail terminal considering its capacity and role in freight transfer, and construction of Rasht-Astara rail route.
In this meeting, Eslami presented Iran's rail networks and its link to Southern Ports of Iran.
Moreover, high capacity of Iran railway along north and south routes as well as east and west of the country was emphasized as they are linking to the railways of neighboring countries.
